Tools, taught by Sir Aswad Baloch.*

## APK, MOD APK, Pro APK, and Premium APK

- **APK**: the original app, exactly as its developer released it, with no
  changes.
- **MOD APK**: a modified version of the app: a developer's restriction
(inside a game, or elsewhere in the app) has been removed or worked around.
GB WhatsApp is a well-known example.
- **Pro APK / Premium APK**: the paid, premium version of an app, offered for
  free.

None of these three modified forms are available on the Play Store; they
only turn up in a Google search. Demand for them comes from two directions:
users looking for a MOD/Pro/Premium version the Play Store will never carry,
and users on an older phone whose Play Store often refuses to install the
current version of an app at all, pushing them to search Google
instead.

This is a hosting niche, not a development one: the APK/MOD files themselves
are not built from scratch. A MOD version is found already made and simply
downloaded and hosted, the same way the rest of this document's site-building
guidance assumes (see [APK file hosting, download-site setup, and AdSense
approval](../../apk-websites/apk-file-hosting-and-adsense.md)).

Its seed keyword is simply **"apk"**, one of the easier niches to start
keyword research from for exactly that reason.

## Where APK demand is biggest

The largest markets for APK search demand: India, Indonesia, the Gulf
countries, and South American countries.

## Selection criteria

- Search volume: more than 30,000
- Moz Domain Authority (DA): less than 30
- Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR): less than 30
- SERP analysis: at least 2-3 competing sites with DA under 30
- Number of pages: less than 150
- Site age: target sites under 1 year old are easier to displace

This framework favours niches with low competition and real ranking
potential.

A later pass on this same criteria tightened the numbers further (search
volume 30,000+, DR under 20) and added that even finding a single low-DR
site (brand or dedicated) among the competitors is enough reason to pursue a
given APK niche.

### Reverse-engineering the best site you find

Once a promising APK site turns up, treat it the same way as any other
macro-site reverse-engineering (see [Finding niches, Method 1](../finding-niches/finding-niches-marketplaces.md)): review its
top pages, then search those pages' keywords on Google. Ahrefs' **Organic
Competitors** report (inside Site Explorer) speeds this up directly: point
it at that site and it lists every other site competing for the same
traffic, which is a ready-made competitor list for the niche.

## Budget to set one up

- Domain: $10/year
- Hosting: free for the first year (as provided within this course)
- Content creation: can be self-produced using content-creation and English
skills already covered elsewhere in this record
- Website design: doable independently once the website-setup module is done
- APK file: available free
- Off-page SEO (backlinks): can be built manually or bought for faster
  ranking (guest posts)

With free resources and self-learning, a site is viable on minimal
investment.

## Traffic tool

**Ahrefs Free Traffic Checker**: analyzes competitors and estimates traffic
potential for a given niche.

## Types of APK niches

- **Micro APK**: a site providing one specific APK.
- **Macro (brand) APK**: a site offering multiple APKs across categories.

The type chosen determines the site's structure and content strategy.

## DMCA and copyright

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) matters directly here: if an APK
is shared without permission, the original developer can file a complaint,
and Google may then remove the page or file from the site. Understanding this
is essential to keeping an APK site sustainable long-term.

## Non-English audiences

English is the primary business language, but APK sites can target
non-English audiences too. High-potential languages: Spanish (South
America), Arabic (Saudi Arabia, Gulf countries), Turkish (Turkey), German
(Germany), French (France).

## Monetization

- **Google AdSense**: a 68% revenue share goes to the publisher from ads
  shown on the site.
- **Other ad networks**: local and international networks can supplement
  AdSense revenue.
