New Etsy accounts get suspended for signals that have nothing to do with the
products being sold, mostly connection and behaviour signals Etsy checks
before it trusts a new seller.

## Check the connection first

Before creating the account, check it at **whoer.net**:

- **Proxy:** must show *No*
- **Anonymizer:** must show *No*
- **Blacklisted:** must show *No*
- **DNS:** must show the country you're actually in

## Browse before you apply

Spend **3 to 5 days** just browsing Etsy normally before applying for a
seller account: an account that goes straight from signup to a seller
application reads as suspicious.

## Keep the account itself safe

- Use a stable internet connection: a **mobile data connection is
  recommended** over shared or unstable Wi-Fi.
- Browse on Etsy before applying for the seller account (see above).
- Use a **separate Google profile** dedicated to the Etsy account.
- Don't use "Continue with Google" to sign up (see [Creating an Etsy shop](etsy-account-creation.md)).

## One person, one laptop, one ID card

Etsy expects a single identity behind an account: one person, one device,
one ID card. Running multiple accounts from the same laptop or identity is
what gets accounts linked and suspended together.
