Keeping a new Etsy account from getting suspended

Taught by Sir Zafar Ali, like the rest of this Etsy section.

New Etsy accounts get suspended for signals that have nothing to do with the products being sold, mostly connection and behaviour signals Etsy checks before it trusts a new seller.

Check the connection first

Before creating the account, check it at whoer.net:

• Proxy: must show No
• Anonymizer: must show No
• Blacklisted: must show No
• DNS: must show the country you're actually in

Browse before you apply

Spend 3 to 5 days just browsing Etsy normally before applying for a seller account: an account that goes straight from signup to a seller application reads as suspicious.

Keep the account itself safe

• Use a stable internet connection: a mobile data connection is recommended over shared or unstable Wi-Fi.
• Browse on Etsy before applying for the seller account (see above).
• Use a separate Google profile dedicated to the Etsy account.
• Don't use "Continue with Google" to sign up (see Creating an Etsy shop).

One person, one laptop, one ID card

Etsy expects a single identity behind an account: one person, one device, one ID card. Running multiple accounts from the same laptop or identity is what gets accounts linked and suspended together.
